Living off the grid is less interesting after watching this

Living "off the grid" is a lot less interesting after watching this doc, and that's a compliment to Jonathan Taggart who directed it.

The doc is called “Life Off Grid” and is on Amazon Prime here. It visits a variety of people across Canada who all have different reasons for going off the grid. They also have different temperaments which is something I’ve not seen in other docs.

For anyone who’s thought of living off the grid, you will likely see a part of yourself represented in each of the characters in the film. Through them, you can ‘try it on for size.’

Unlike most documentaries on off the grid living, it doesn't glorify the life, it just presents it as it is. It de-romanticizes it, and it’s best to see something for what it is before making that kind of commitment.

I’ve heard stories from friends about people they know who bought a piece of land, a tiny home, set it up with solar panels and composting toilets, and only lasted for a few months before returning to the city. I feel like I was heading in that direction until watching this film.

If you’ve ever heard the siren song of living off the grid, this is worth a watch.
