Understanding and navigating company culture

It shouldn't be surprising that putting a group of people together to get something accomplished (i.e. forming a company) will create difficult situations. People are complex and putting complex things together creates an unpredictable environment to navigate. In fact, the only way to navigate a complex system is to form a simplified model of it. This is why we can’t perfectly predict the weather but have simplified computer models just good enough to tell us if we should we go to the park this afternoon.

This video talks about a model I found to be very helpful in navigating a company. It's particularly useful for breaking through the feeling of frustration when you can't seem to get what you want done. Frustration comes from not knowing what to do next or feeling like any action will be pointless. A good model can give you just enough understanding to decide on your next action which makes frustration melt away.
